The Motorola Moto X will be released to AT&T users starting Friday, and eager fans can prepare their own customized device from the ground up and have it delivered right to their home. Additionally, Verizon Wireless users will be able to get their own Moto X smartphones starting next week.

Motorola is offering the Moto X to AT&T, Verizon and other major service providers for $199 plus a two year commitment plan. Users will either be able to pick up prebuilt Moto X's from various storefronts, or they can go on Motorola's website and design their own Moto X, from the color of the phone's back, volume buttons and the ring around the phone. Engravings would have been available, but Motorola has delayed the availability of the feature due to quality concerns.

Users can upgrade the memory of the Moto X, from the standard 16GB to 32GB, for an additional $50. Once users have designed their Moto X, a newly opened plant in Texas will assemble the device and ship it within four days of ordering. Users can also import their contacts and wallpaper photo for their Moto X so when it arrives it's ready to go. However, not everyone will have the same amount of customizable options. AT&T users will have exclusive access to these customization options at first; Verizon customers will only get a black and white option initially.

As for the specs of the device, the Moto X may not set the world on fire, but the smartphone is fairly capable, and is designed for efficiency rather than flashy tech. The device carries a 4.7 inch 720p display, which will not be Full HD. However, this is by design, as the smaller screen and curved shape of the Moto X allows users to enjoy the phone's display with one hand and improves battery life overall. A Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor powers the whole device, which will help power the device's Active Display and Touchless Controls features. Active Display will flash messages and notifications without unlocking the screen, and Touchless Controls will use improved voice commands to make the Moto X work like devices such as Google Glass and iPhone. The Moto X will run on Android 4.2.2.

The Moto X is one of the most compelling devices coming out this year, look out for more information about the device soon here at Latinos Post Tech.
