The achievements for Grand Theft Auto 5 have been leaked, and the list reveals just how much stock developer Rockstar has in the game's online mode, which was revealed just last week.
The full list of achievements can be seen on Xbox360Achievements, and shows off several milestones players can shoot for in both the single player offline mode and the online mode. The list spotlights a wide variety of goals that players can complete, ranging from achievements for exploration, completing missions and fulfilling certain tasks.
Some achievements are fairly standard video game fare. One rewards players for exploring the entirety of Los Santos and Blaine County. Another is for getting gold medals on all missions available, which appears to be around 70. Other achievements are more mysterious. Several special missions are highlighted with achievements, such as one for collecting and retrieving spaceship parts. Another has the player collecting nuclear waste after purchasing an old dock. Two missions involve cults from the game. One has players interacting with the Epsilon Program and possible joining the Scientology spoof religion and the other has players delivering a person to the Altruist Cult.
The achievements have periodic rewards for players who reach certain levels in the game's online mode, which expands on the idea of reputation seen in the gameplay trailer for the online mode. Several other aspects of the online mode will unlock achievements, such as completing races and deathmatches.
There are 11 secret achievements for the game, and these will most likely tie into the game's story mode. Most of the known achievements are for extracurricular activities and online goals, so it would make sense that the unknown achievements will reflect the game's story.
The range and variety of achievements is amazing, and should provide users with a wealth of goals to complete after they have finished the story mode. The descriptions also provide an interesting window into some of the most interesting and bizarre aspects of Grand Theft Auto 5. In addition, Rockstar reaffirms the importance of the online portion of the game by having so many achievements involve online goals, and Grand Theft Auto 5 Online looks to set the bar high for other open-world online games that are coming to current and next-gen consoles. However, the mode will not be available when the game launches on Sept. 17, but will be available on Oct. 1 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
