Microsoft is going all out at next week's Gamescom event, and have reveal a handy feature that the Xbox One will use to help defeat one the Xbox 360's biggest flaws.

Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios was recently on Major Nelson's podcast, and he revealed more information about Microsoft's presence at Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany August 21-25. Specifically, he revealed that the main focus of Microsoft's presentation will be focused on games and developers, as well as hinting that they will reveal a new exclusive at the show:

"We're gonna have a really short stage presentation with some news, talking about some unique exclusive coming to the platform...We're going to talk about Europe's biggest franchise and maybe some interesting things. We have some stuff, but most of the time will be spent with the press getting time with the developers, with their games. So you should think about this as a room with a lot of hands-on. We think that these platforms are about the games, and we want to give the press time with the games...there's no better way than having developers talk about what they're getting out of the platform, whether it's cloud functionality, Kinect stuff. Rare will be there. You'll have the Forza team talking about the work that they're doing. You'll have third parties there. I think it's really going to be a great show, because the creators are the ones that make these platforms sing."

It is unclear what this new exclusive will be, but gamers will find out sooner rather than later. In addition to this Gamescom update, Microsoft has revealed new details about how the Xbox One will prevent overheating, which was one of the major faults of the Xbox 360. Leo del Castillo, Microsoft's general manager of console development spoke to Gizmodo about the steps Microsoft has taken to stop the Xbox One from overheating, including making the console self-regulate to avoid heat issues:

"One thing that we have more flexibility with the architecture of the Xbox One, is that we can dial back the power of the box considerably...We had a little less flexibility with the 360. And so basically, if we couldn't dissipate the heat, there wasn't a whole lot of leverage we could pull to keep the heat from being generated, so we had a limited amount of time before it just shut down. Xbox One can actually dial it back to a lower power state, so low in fact that it can [be] in a mode that uses virtually no air flow."
