The first few trailers of the upcoming "Man of Steel" retained a bleak, austere style that did not hint at a superhero movie. With just months to go before the film's worldwide release, Warner Bros has finally decided to showcase the film's special effects.

The trailer's initiation shows Kal-El sending his son to earth where he will be considered a "God. From there, the viewer is introduced to his life on earth and a seemingly traumatic experience in which he saves a school bus and then learns of his fate. In a brief clip the young Clark Kent asks his adoptive father "Can't I just keep pretending I'm your son?" Afterward, the trailer showcases a grown up Kent as a nomad hiding himself from the world. At one point he is show saving sailors from a shipwreck. Eventually the trailer shows him don the cape. The trailer also reveals General Zod and his attack on earth with military escalation.

As the trailer comes to an end, the audience is teased with what the "S" on his chest stands for. Lois Lane (Amy Adams) asks Clark Kent what it means and he responds that it means "hope" on his planet. She then attempts to name him "Superman" but is promptly interrupted. It is possible that we will never hear the name "Superman" in the entire film; producer Christopher Nolan shied away from calling Selina Kyle "Catwoman" in his latest "The Dark Knight Rises."

"Man of Steel" will star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent (Superman), Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Michael Shannon will also play the villain General Zod. The film has received a PG-13 rating and will come out in theaters on June 14, 2013.
