Mexican actor David Zepeda has been cast in the new telenovela "La Sustituta." The series is scheduled to air in May in Mexico with a later date in the USA.

The Rosy Ocampo-produced series will be written by Maria Zarattini who last wrote "La Fuerza del Destino" and "La Fea Mas Bella." Ocampo stated that the series will be original and that she is excited to work with Zepeda again.

Ocampo failed to give a synopsis of the work as the libretto is still being worked on. The producer also stated that there is no female lead but the producers have been casting and will soon announce the whole list. Ocampo also stated that not all locations have been defined but that her team has already scouted and will soon announce more details.

Zepeda last worked with Angelique Boyer on the novela "Abismo de Pasion." Zepeda rose to fame after his turn in 2009's "Sortilegio" where he played the villain. He got his first lead role in 2011 in the award winning series "La Fuera del Destino."

Producer Rosy Ocampo has been responsible for "Por Ella Soy Eva," "Amor sin Maquillaje" and "Las Tontas van al Cielo." She previously worked on "La Fuerza del Destino" with Zepeda.

"La Sustituta" will air after Salvador Mejia's new work "Que Bonito Amor."
