Old and new media have converged to create another star in the U.S. modeling landscape. Katherine Webb will have a chance to further increase her popularity with an appearance attached to one of the few truly mass-market, everybody's-watching-events: the Super Bowl, the AP reports. Webb will serve as a correspondent for "Inside Edition" leading up to the big game in New Orleans on February 3, with her first work starting on January 28.
Webb, a former Miss Alabama USA winner, increased her Twitter presence from a few thousand to more than a quarter of a million followers when she was featured on television during the BCS National Championship. Her boyfriend, AJ McCarron, and the Alabama Crimson Tide were busy dismantling the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a 42-14 score en route to a second straight NCAA FBS Football Championship.
The coverage on ESPN caused a controversy within the media, as play-by-play broadcaster Brent Musburger pointed out his feelings in this clip.
ESPN issued an apology for Musburger’s comments via Twitter.
While being interviewed on NBC’s “The Today Show,” Webb said she did not need an apology for Musburger’s comments and that she did not take offense to them.
Webb said landing the job, “is an honor and dream come true,” and that she will, “give fans an insider’s look at what goes on as the teams prepare to battle.
