In the last calendar week, Durant has led the Thunder in scoring in three games, all Oklahoma City victories. He recorded 41 points Monday night in the 102-90 win over the Phoenix Suns and another 42 on Friday against the LA Lakers. He has totaled 9 blocks and 25 rebounds while shooting .500 or better in each contest. His torrid clip earned him our NBA Player of the Week Award.
Over his last 10 games, Durant has improved his scoring average to 30 points per game, while matching or topping his season averages for assists (4.3), blocks (1.3) and steals (1.5). The Thunder is 8-2 during that stretch.
Oklahoma City has won six of its last seven games and has the NBA's best record at 30-8. The last seven OKC wins have been double-digit affairs, and the team is outscoring its opponents by 9.2 points per game on average.
Durant scores more points on Wednesdays than any other day of the week this season. Catch him Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets. It is the first game of the season series between the teams, with game two coming just four days later. Durant averaged 35.7 points per game in three bouts against the Nuggets last season, two of them victories.
If none of those reasons are enough to give Durant our NBA Player of the Week crown, try this on for size:
