NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has filed for divorce from her husband Paul Hospenthal after seven years of marriage.

Patrick characterized her marriage as "broken" on the divorce papers that were filed Jan. 3 in the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County.

"My marriage is irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation," Patrick listed in the divorce filings, according to the LATimes.

Patrick and Hospenthal had a prenuptial agreement and no alimony will be paid, according to court documents--a good thing for Patrick who is reported to be worth $18 million.

Patrick said that community property will be divided following a settlement agreement.

"My spouse and I did acquire community property during our marriage, and it will be divided as indicated on a Settlement Agreement which will be submitted to the court at a later date," she documented on the divorce papers.

Being that Arizona is a no-fault divorce state, the divorce will not be finalized for at least 60 days starting from when Hospenthal was served with the papers wherein he has the opportunity to respond.

The 30-year-old racecar driver announced that she and Hospenthal decided to end their marriage in late November but started the official process earlier this month, according to Sporting News.

"I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage," Patrick posted on Facebook after her initial announcement in November. "This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."

Hospenthal, 47,met Patrick in 2002 when he was treating her for a hip injury. They were married in 2005 and have no children.
