Miss South Carolina 2012 was considered a favorite to win the 2013 Miss America crown, but for Ali Rogers, the title was given to Miss New York 2012 Mallory Hagan.

Rogers finished as the first runner-up on Saturday night during the 92nd Miss America pageant. Ahead of the pageant, the Las Vegas Review-Journal had reported Rogers as the odds favorite, 8 to 1, to bring the crown back to South Carolina.

Rogers showed support for Hagan on Twitter, tweeting couldn't be more proud for Miss New York and was well deserved.

Speaking to FOX Carolina, Rogers said of the pageant experience, "To come away with so many opportunities ahead of me, it really was truly life changing."

Rogers noted that she is thankful of the encouraging support South Carolinians have given her, from social media to even people painting their toenails blue.

Although Rogers didn't win the 2013 Miss America crown, she is still Miss South Carolina and will continue those responsibilities until the summer, when a new Miss South Carolina will be crowned. In addition, Rogers leaves the Miss America pageant with a $25,000 scholarship, half compared to Hagan's $50,000 win.
