In the mid-season opener of FOX's hit comedy series 'The Mindy Project,' Mindy (Mindy Kaling) finds herself stress vomiting after her younger brother Rishi (guest star Utkarsh Ambudkar) tells her he's dropping out of school to become a rapper. As if that weren't stressful enough, practice partners Danny (Chris Messina) and Jeremy (Ed Weeks) tell her that their landlord has raised their rent.
After some initial shock, Mindy decides to cut off Rishi monetarily in order to convince him to head back to college. But with the help of head nurse Morgan (Ike Barinholtz), Mindy reconsiders and attends Rishi's rap battle. In the end, Rishi came to his senses and decided not to pursue a rapping career.
Meanwhile, Danny and Jeremy learn that their landlord's son has taken over the administration of their building and that he's been put in a home for the elderly. After some sneaky maneuvering and couple set-up, the two manage to convince their landlord to fix the issue with his son.
In the upcoming episode of 'The Mindy Project,' entitled "Bunk Bed," Mindy's plans for a bunk bed for her goddaughter Riley (Avriella Ford) are ruined when the structure Morgan and Danny have built collapses and injures her best friend Gwen (Anna Camp). While at the hospital, Danny meets a girl (guest star Allison Williams) in the ER's waiting room who is affectionately referred to as Eye-Patch Girl.
Back in the office Shauna (Amanda Setton) and Betsy (Zoe Jarman) attempt to find their office magazine stealer in a search that "yields some surprising discoveries," FOX teases.
'The Mindy Project,' S1E11, "Bunk Bed," airs on Tuesday, January 15 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX.
