New York film buff Daniel Craft got one final wish to come true before he died of terminal cancer. After a number of inquiries and pleas from families and friends, Director JJ Abrams allowed Craft to see an early unfinished version of his upcoming film "Star Trek Into Darkness."

According to Policymic, Craft went to see "The Hobbit" to get a chance at viewing a 10 minute preview for "Into Darkness." However, the theater he visited did not showcase the preview. Afterward, Craft's wife posted the story on Reddit and started to gain support for the campaign to get Craft to watch the film before his death.

According to Hollywood.com, they were contacted by Abrams directly about screening the film for Craft. The NY Daily News reported that a producer came to Craft's home and handed him a DVD with a rough draft of the film. Craft proceeded to sign numerous non-disclosure agreements and watched the film. He died the same day.

Craft was the director of the New York Asian Film Festival and had been battling cancer since the age of 38. He was diagnosed with leukemia back then and endured "three rounds of chemotherapy before finally getting a successful bone marrow transplant," according to Policymic reporter Abdul Siddiqui.

Unfortunately, he was later diagnosed with an unrelated cancer and died on Jan. 4 at 10:15 PM EST according to Comingsoon.net.
