The revolving door of "The X Factor" judging table has returned.
The second season of the singing reality show "The X Factor" has wrapped up with Tate Stevens winning the show, fittingly, he was under the mentorship of judge L.A. Reid, who has confirmed he will not return for a third season.
Are more departures set to happen?
Latest reports state Britney Spears could be facing the axe after only one season. Spears only signed on for one season, for a deal worth $15 million. According to Us Weekly, Spears will get the boot as an insider said, "Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working."
The Us Weekly report added that $15 million contract is a reason for her possible departure, as she didn't bring enough energy to the judging table. Another source said, "[Simon Cowell] wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney."
If the report is true, Spears will be the fourth judge to be axed after Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger, and Paula Abdul who were let go from the first season.
Cowell, the executive producer of the show, also signed on Demi Lovato, who's future isn't sure either.
Following the finale of "The X Factor" last week, Lovato tweeted she was "thankful for this experience I've had on The X Factor USA this year." She added, "I'm really really really gonna miss working with @LA_Reid. So many laughs and inside jokes. Truly blessed to know you LA. Love you so much."
In regards to Spears, Demi tweeted: "Also I'm going to miss sitting next to the STUNNING, gorgeous and down-to-earth sweetheart @britneyspears...Britney...I'm gonna miss you."
A representative for Demi told GossipCop that the tweets are not an indication of her departure but simply stating a goodbye for the season.
Co-host Mario Lopez also stated he hopes to return to the show and has no idea what the plans are for next year.
Lopez told Life & Style, "I would love to [come back. I had a great time this season. It was awesome. It went by really quick."
