Fans of E.L. James' bestselling erotic thriller get ready for another round of "Who Will Play Christian Grey." British actor Eddie Redmayne, who stars in 'Les Miserables,' has said that he would "never say never" to an offer for the highly coveted role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of '50 Shades of Grey.'
"I know there's a huge amount of hype around it [the movie] so I definitely never say never," Redmayne told magazine Marie Claire during a recent interview. "I've heard so much about this book. I see people reading it on the tube and I'm always really impressed that they're reading it on the tube because it's kind of kinky...I'm thinking, 'What are you getting off on the tube?'"
The 30-year-old Brit added, "I've not read it myself."
According to MStarz, Redmayne may not exactly fit the bill for the portrayal of the sexy domineering millionaire but he is "an up-and-coming actor who seems to have a lot going for him." If he were to land the role, it would also give his new career just the right boost, MStarz added.
However, like many of the new contenders for the role of Christian Grey, there is stiff competition in the form of 'Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder and 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer. The two 30-somethings have dominated all past fan polls conducted by Latinos Post, except for one where 'Arrow' actor Stephen Amell surprisingly stole the lead.
The rumors circulating around casting decisions are likely to continue despite James repeatedly saying that it will take some time to decide who will play the coveted roles. Casting speculations have run wild since Universal Pictures and Focus Films purchased the rights to the film earlier this year. As of December, producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti and screenwriter Kelly Marcel have signed on to the project.
The first film of the highly anticipated series, '50 Shades of Grey,' has not been given a release date yet.
