Fans of E.L. James' bestselling erotic thriller '50 Shades of Grey' can add British actress Felicity Jones to the ever-growing list of Anastasia Steele contenders. The 29-year-old actress told The Telegraph's Mandrake that she would be interested in playing the coveted role.
"It would be very exciting," Jones told the Telegraph. "I read the book and thought it was an interesting read." She added that the nudity required for the role wouldn't bother her. "It is something you consider individually with each project that you do, but clearly with this particular project it would be necessary," the 'Chalet Girl' actress said.
The actress, however, will have to face some stiff competition from big Hollywood names like Alexis Bledel ('Gilmore Girls'), Nina Dobrev ('The Vampire Diaries') and Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones'). In the latest Anastasia Steele fan pick poll, Bledel continued to dominate with 49.49 percent of the votes.
However, fans will have to wait a bit until casting decisions are made. British author James has told reporters that she and the production team-consisting of producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti and screenwriter Kelly Marcel-will not make any casting decisions until the screenplay is written and a director has been chosen.
That has not stopped fans from spreading casting rumors since Universal Pictures and Focus Films purchased the rights to the film earlier this year. In recent weeks, those rumors have mainly focused on who will be playing millionaire hunk Christian Grey, with actors Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder leading the polls.
The studio has yet to announce a theatrical release for the first film in the series, '50 Shades of Grey.'
