Is Conor McGregor Avoiding Frankie Edgar? [UFC News & Rumors]

Frankie Edgar is trying all means to get under the skin of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, a tactic that ironically seems to be taken out of the book of “The Notorious”.

Edgar is who many believe will likely be McGregor’s next opponent unless the UFC feels otherwise. But then again, there are other things that have to be placed under consideration and this has something to do with McGregor’s plans to fight at the lightweight division.

Apparently, the move becomes interesting for the UFC, seeing it as possibly something that could see a champion vs. champion scenario.

That is with reference to a possible main event featuring Conor McGregor (UFC featherweight champion) vs. Rafael dos Anjos (UFC lightweight champion). And the thought alone seems mind-boggling and certainly something that Dana White and company are likely to seriously tinker around with.

Back to Edgar, such has left him waiting in the wings. The obvious thing right now is that he will have to wait and see which direction the UFC and McGregor would take.

Nothing much has been mentioned since McGregor’s epic triumph over Jose Aldo back in UFC 194 which indeed in 13 seconds though Edgar was already mentioned as the likely next opponent.

Edgar is ready anytime to face McGregor, someone who he believes he can dethrone. In fact, he has started out the trash talk by saying that he is McGregor’s worst nightmare.

"I really think I'm a nightmare for him. I don't know if that's keeping him away. Prove me wrong. Prove all the doubters wrong. Stroke that ego a little bit," says Edgar via Fox Sports.

Indeed, Edgar is riding high on adrenaline. He is coming off a big knockout win over Chad Mendes and understandably he wants his shot.

Speaking of trash talk, Edgar isn’t about to back down on whatever verbal jabs that McGregor is expected to throw back at him. In fact, it would not be surprising if McGregor comes out in the open any time now to address Edgar’s tirades.

"You can say anything you want," says Edgar. "You don't know me. I see the guy at press conferences like two times a year. He don't know me, I don't know him. He's not going to get under my skin. I'll go to Ireland and no one in Ireland is going to get under my skin. I have a job to do and that's to beat Conor McGregor."

Whatever happens, Edgar is likely to sit on pins and needles for the meantime as hinted by MMAFighting.com. And it will continue to stay that way until McGregor or the UFC reveals its final verdict on what it plans to do next.
