Coming out as a transgender was not as easy as Caitlyn Jenner originally thought. However, Kim Kardashian's stepparent is not letting these difficulties stop her from educating the world on how to treat transgenders. Kim absolutely has her back on this.
Speaking with The Advocate, where she is the cover girl for the February/March 2016 issue, she shared that she wants to use her platform to educate others on the transgender community. Her platform is none other than her show "I am Cait." According to the former Olympian, her show has served as a vehicle to talk about the transgender topic ever since it aired. She felt the show ""opened up a conversation that for so long was swept under the rug."
She compared the topic of transgender issue to the gay issue "20, 30, 40 years ago." She said that because of her show, it feels a lot more okay to talk about trans issues. She added that being a transgender is being much more than just the changing of hair and makeup.
She shared that her daughter Kim believes that if she does go out and deal with the craziness of being a celebrity, she must look her best. According to Kim, Caitlyn should not let the paparazzi snap her looking lousy. She said the media has a way of using a lousy picture forever, not letting anyone forget it. While Caitlyn is grateful of her stepdaughter's advice, she reiterated that being a woman is not about looking sexy or cute. She said there is so much more to womanhood than looking like a beautiful woman. She is striving to learn the essence of womanhood.
She personally said that she is currently studying what being transgender is all about. She is currently engrossed with a book entitled "How to be a Woman" and learning a lot from it. The book is by Caitlin Moran.
"It's actually very good and very funny," says Caitlyn. "What I realized while going through this book is how my experience is so different from what a normal woman's would be growing up---that's obvious. The second chapter was about having your period. OK? I will never deal with that. So there is so much in life that I need to learn about who I am and be authentic with myself. But I never want to assume that this whole thing called womanhood, that I could ever experience all of that. I will be able to live authentically as female, but I've missed so much," she detailed.
Caitlyn Jenner's journey has been supported and criticized equally. Recently, Barry Humphries, an 81-year old Australian comedian, told The Telegraph that Jenner is nothing but a publicity-seeking ratbag." The comedian also lamented the fact that everyone now who is not politically correct can be castrated.
