If you have unresolved GoT book feels, you may be in for a long, cold, lonely winter -- so to speak.
George RR Martin, the well-celebrated author of the hit series, "Game of Thrones" has revealed Saturday on his blog, "Not A Blog," that he has yet again missed the deadline of the sixth installment of his novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" titled "The Winds of Winter."
The 67-year-old author, who is a graduate of Northwestern University, wrote an honest and sincere post about his aversion to deadlines and admitted that he worked best when there are none.
"No contracts, no deadlines, no one waiting. Write at my own pace and deliver when I'm done. That's really how I am most comfortable, even now," he wrote.
As cited per Wall Street Journal, Martin told his readers that there are several factors they can hold responsible for the delay. His travels, blog posts, distractions, projects, among other things may well be the issues that had an impact in his writing process. However, in keeping with the spirit of honesty, he said, "But if truth be told, sometimes the writing goes well and sometimes it doesn't, and that was true for me even when I was in my 20s."
Meanwhile, there are those who questioned whether Martin could finish the series given his old age - the novels are expected to conclude at the seventh or eighth installment. "It will be done when it's done," Martin said on his blog. "And it will be as good as I can possibly make it."
He also wasted no time addressing the disappointment of those who are looking forward to "The Winds of Winter:"
"You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me," he wrote.
The release of "The Winds of Winter" remains unclear. However, he assured his readers and fans that he will continue the writing process. "Meanwhile, I'll keep writing. Chapter at a time. Page at a time. Word at a time," he wrote. "That's all I know how to do."
It has been 20 years since Martin published the first book in "A Song of Fire and Ice" series titled "A Game of Thrones." The second installment, , "A Clash of Kings," was released in 1998 and, two years later, "A Storm of Swords" followed. "A Feast for Crows," the fourth book, came out in 2005. The latest, "A Dance With Dragons," was released in 2011.
