Forbes has recently released the list of Hollywood’s most overpaid actors for 2015. The publication ranked the actors based on the amount that a studio rakes in for every dollar that they invest in its leading man.

In compiling the list, Forbes also checked the last three films that each actor starred in before June 2015, without including animated movies, movies released on fewer than 2,000 theater screens, and cameo appearances. Next, the estimated production budgets, leading actors’ earnings and global box office grosses were looked into to reach the final return-on-investment result.

In 2014, Johnny Depp was listed in second place, right behind comedian Adam Sandler. At present, Depp made the top spot, by averaging $1.20 for every dollar that he was paid to star in a film. ScreenCrush cited that previously, the studio earned $3.20 for every dollar that Adam Sandler made. Sandler was also the most overpaid Hollywood actor in 2013. Hopefully, Depp will do better for the studio in his next films, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” in 2016, and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” in 2017.

The Guardian wrote that Depp is among the highest-paid actors in the world, with his annual earnings averaging $30 million. His poor standing was caused to the financial failure of films like “The Lone Ranger,” “Mortdecai,” and “Transcendence,” which all tanked at the box office. Disney reportedly lost at least $150 million with “The Lone Ranger,” while “Mortdecai” lost at least $12.5 million. The sci-fi thriller “Transcendence” barely recouped its $100 production costs.

The current list has Denzel Washington at No. 2 with the studio earning $6.50 for every dollar that the actor was paid. Third place went to Will Ferrell with $6.80/$1. The No. 4 spot went to Liam Neeson with $7.20/$1. Will Smith made fifth place with $8.60/$1.

Rounding out the top 10 are Christian Bale with $9.20/$1 at No. 6, Channing Tatum with $10.80/$1 at No. 7, Brad Pitt at No. 8 with $12/$1, Ben Affleck in ninth place with $12.30/$1, and Tom Cruise at No. 10 with $13.60/$1. Generally, the men in the list are among the highest paid in the world at present, having starred in at least one box office hit.

On the other hand, Chris Evans was named the most profitable actor, by raking in $181.80/$1, while Mila Kunis was the most profitable actress, with $87.30/$1.

More updates and details on Hollywood’s best financial performers are expected soon.
