Although Nina Dobrev is gone from “The Vampire Diaries,” the show producers seemed to have found a doppelganger to take her place. Leslie-Anne Huff is the new character in Mystic Falls.
Just Jared observed how much Huff looks like Dobrev.
Executive producer Caroline Dries told TVLine that the striking similarity between the two actresses was certainly just a coincidence. Dries said that they looked at several potential actors and noticed how much Huff looked like Dobrev. She was still convinced to bring her in, although she has not met Huff in person. Many said that she does not look like Dobrev in person. Dries added that Huff is a great actress and is perfect for the role.
“We’ll get to see her present-day story and then everything will click when you see her in the future.” Dries said.
Based on the same TVLine report, Huff will play the role of Rayna, a vicious vampire hunter. Huff previously appeared on “NCIS.”
Dries also stated that the show will continue with a “really cool concept episode” in January 2016. Huff is expected to cause a number of predicaments to the residents of Mystic Falls in the upcoming episodes. Rayna will appear in Episode 12 of Season 7. The character will return after she was previously killed by her enemies, Entertainment Weekly wrote.
There has been a lot of speculations about how Rayna will tie into the current story. Her recurrence may be involved with the Other Side and Phoenix Stone. She may be the one who scarred Beau and currently going after the Salvatore brothers. WetPaint stated that Rayna is a fierce, driven, confident and deadly legend who will remain relentless until her vengeance is complete. Rayna may be harnessing supernatural powers as well, which makes her more dangerous to the vampires she is hunting.
The show will also reportedly be delving into the fallout from the winter finale for some time, plot-wise and emotionally. The executive producer also stated that Caroline’s babies will also develop in the usual period of nine months, although they will be harnessing supernatural powers when they are born.
On the other hand, Nina Dobrev was spotted enjoying the holiday season on the snowy mountains in the Deer Valley Area of Park City, Utah.
“The Vampire Diaries” will continue Season 7 on Jan. 29, 2016 on The CW. More updates and details about the characters and plot are expected soon.
