Although UFC fans may not be seeing Ronda Rousey inside the Octagon for a while as she recovers from her devastating loss against new women’s champ Holly Holm, they may catch her in Hollywood filming a couple of movies early in 2016.
UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta stated that Rousey is planning to film two movies early in 2016 before her rematch against Holm, most probably at UFC 200 in July. UFC co-owner Fertitta said that Rousey is planning to film the remake of “Road House” and “Mile 22” with Mark Wahlberg. Her goal to regain her UFC women’s bantamweight belt has reportedly been stronger than ever.
"I went out to see her in L.A. Had some real good conversations with her. She is, as you would expect, very disappointed. Distraught, to some extent. She's never lost. She never lost a fight in the Octagon. She never lost a fight in the street. She didn't know what it was like. Right? She is champing to be back in there,” said Fertitta. He added that she made certain commitments to make two films before the rematch and will work on those before training again.
After her loss to Holm at UFC 193, Rousey has been placed on medical suspension and was not allowed to train for at least six months. The 28-year-old was taken to the hospital after the match and was even told not to train for 45 days and not to fight for 60 days, Hollywood Life revealed. It will be ideal for her to focus on other projects in the meantime as she recovers.
Fertitta also said that he thinks that the Holm-Rousey rematch will be the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. The rematch has not yet been fully arranged, but Fertitta expects a deal to be done soon. A lot of fans were shocked when Holm ended her undefeated streak, after dominating her opponents in all her past fights.
Rousey has appeared in a number of movies before. She had roles in “The Expendables” in 2014, “Furious 7” and “Entourage” in 2015. She will also be working on “The Athena Project” and star as herself in “The Hurt Business” in 2016, AceShowbiz stated. A lot of people in Hollywood have been interested in her for her persona in and out of the Octagon, as well as her screen-worthy face and body.
The UFC co-owner mentioned that Rousey has options, but she is a very competitive person and will return to the ring soon. More updates and details on Ronda Rousey are expected soon.
