A new "Captain America: Civil War" synopsis has been revealed by Marvel Studios.
While the newly-unleashed synopsis officially clarifies the small plot details of the highly-anticipated comic book film, as noted by Collider, it doesn't provide much when it comes to new information on "Captain America: Civil War."
The website adds that pretty much of what's in Avenger film has already been told via the comic book source material and the latest issue of EW.
Perhaps the only difference between the old and the new "Captain America: Civil War" synopsis is that no "new and nefarious villain" has been mentioned in the latter.
Comparing the new one with the old, both tell of the opposing teams' ideologies. While Team Cap wants freedom for The Avengers as far as the government is concerned, Iron Man's team wants more responsibility for the superheroes.
Below is the new "Captain America: Civil War" synopsis, via Marvel.com.
"Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team."
"The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability."
Recalling previous films featuring members of The Avengers, the motivations of each superhero is clear.
Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) has had a bad experience from the events in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which showed Hydra's secret plans within S.H.I.E.L.D.
As for Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the "billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist" superhero feels he is responsible for the world. This is apparent in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," where he stated that creating Ultron was "the path I started us on," because he conceived Ultron with Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) without the knowledge of anyone else in the team. In addition, visions from The Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) where he saw The Avengers dying because of him haunts him continuously.
It's clear from the "Captain America: Civil War" trailer and early promo art that Team Cap consists of Hawkeye, Falcon, The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Agent 13, and Scarlet Witch. Meanwhile, on Team Iron Man, there's Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, and Black Panther. However, the twist is that they could still change sides.
"Captain America: Civil War" is slated for release on May 6, 2016.
