Two of the most controversial fighters in the UFC will be gracing the cover of the upcoming game “UFC 2.” The two stars are expected to boost sales following their recent matches.

IGN noted that Irish MMA figher Conor McGregor will join Ronda Rousey on the cover of “UFC 2” by EA Sports. McGregor recently took the featherweight championship title from Jose Aldo at UFC 194 after knocking out the latter in 13 seconds. Ronda, despite suffering a terrible loss against Holly Holmes at UFC 193, is still one of the biggest names in the sport.

Early in December 2015, EA announced that there will be two UFC stars who will appear on the cover of the second game in the series. Rousey was slated to be the first, while the second spot will be awarded to the winner of the main card at UFC 194, which turned out to be McGregor. It is actually the first time that the cover of an EA Sports game depended on the outcome of a real-world sporting event.

Both McGregor and Rousey set the record in 2015 for finishing their opponents in the shortest time. In February 2015, Rousey defeated Cat Zingano in only 14 seconds at UFC 184. McGregor broke her UFC record for the fastest knockout in a title fight by beating Aldo in 13 seconds on Dec. 12, 2015.

Based on the same IGN report, “UFC 2” was announced by EA Sports in November 2015. The game promised to deliver special animations for particular fighters, the deepest and most powerful fighter creation tools yet and highly realistic physics-driven responses.

EA Sports already provided a couple of images of the cover of “UFC 2,” featuring both Rousey and McGregor, with the caption “13 Seconds! #FightForTheCover #EASPORTSUFC2 #UFC194.” In other Twitter posts, EA also thanked both fighters for the generated traffic and later welcomed Conor into their fold. The photo showed the two fighters inside the Octagon wearing the same outfit in their latest respective matches. The game had an ESRB rating of RP.

MMAJunkie wrote that Rousey remains one of the highest-profile fighters in the UFC, which is why EA officials still wanted her on the cover of the second game in the sequel, despite her loss.

“UFC 2” is expected to launch in the spring or fall of 2016. There is no specific launch date yet but it will be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
