The location of the fatal New York City shooting of Brandon Lincoln Woodward appears to have been calculated, reports the Kansas City Star.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg asserts that the assassination "was not a random thing as far as we can tell." Woodward was seen "walking back and forth and checking his phone for messages before a gunman walked up and shot him in the head," according to the Star. Evidence places the suspect in a car "parked on the same block at least a half hour before the gunfire erupted."
While Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly did not make any definitive assertions, as the investigation is ongoing, the calm manner in which the killer shot Woodward and walked away suggests that the murder was premeditated.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office notes that Woodward has a criminal history which includes petty theft, cocaine possession, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police explained to ABC News, "As he [shooter] walks up to the victim, the victim turns, he is looking at his phone or iPod as he is walking. The shooter gets right behind him. It is one shot right in the back of the head. It is a hit, no question about it."
The hit man wore a dark hooded coat and khaki pants when the incident unfolded.
