Many felt the eagle did many people a favor, considering the controversial and abrasive reputation that presidential aspirant Donald Trump has built in the past months.
The billionaire businessman was on this year's shortlist for Time magazine's "Person of the Year" citation. As such events go, the nomination came with the obligatory photo shoot. And during Trump's photo op with Time, a bald eagle named Uncle Sam nearly pecked out a piece of the 69-year-old.
"As he sits at a desk for more pics, the candidate asks 'you don't show the aspirin over here, do you?' and goes to adjust an item on his desk," he was quoted by E! News as saying in the clip.
"That's when the 27-year-old eagle leans down to try and take a little peck at Trump, though he doesn't make contact, as Trump dodges him," the entertainment news source observed. "The results are a hilarious reaction shot of Trump next to America's symbol, trying to avoid an unwanted bite."
"I'm doing this for the cover of Time magazine," Trump declared in the video. "I love Time magazine. What you will do for a cover. This bird is seriously dangerous, but beautiful."
According to the shoot's photographer, Martin Schoeller, the business mogul "knows exactly how he looks, and he strikes one pose and doesn't move," as noted by MailOnline.
"'He literally has one angle," Schoeller went on. "If I ask him to smile, he puts on a big grin and then he goes back to his Zoolander 'blue steel' look."
Of the bird, this was what the photographer had to say.
"He's very difficult to photograph. If you ask him to look up a little bit, he says no or he just doesn't do it," he said.
As it turns out, it was Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel who eventually got chosen as "Person of the Year." This apparently ruffled Trump's feathers, as shown in a tweet he posted in the wake of the announcement.
"I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany," his tweet read.
As expected, Trump caused an uproar once more after he recently declared that he would ban all Muslims from entering US borders once he becomes President.
However, in the wake of the backlash, Trump remained unapologetic, saying that he's "doing good for the Muslims."
"Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me," he told CNN. "They say, 'Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.'"
"I have many friends who are Muslims," he went on. "They're phenomenal people. They are so happy at what I'm doing."
