Republican presidential front-runner is threatening to close just about everything these days.

His 2016 bid began with an announced plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border as a way of keeping "drug dealers" and "rapists" on the other side of the Rio Grande. This week, he proposed banning all Muslims from entering the country, American citizen or not, until the U.S. government can figure out how to weed out terrorist threats.

As bombastic as they may seem, these thinking points have a realistic way of reaching the Republican-controlled House floor. It wouldn't be the first time similar legislation passed, only to be shot down once it reached the Senate.

These are somewhat plausible closures, sure, but Trump's most recent proposal may be a complete violation of the First Amendment.

Speaking at a Pearl Harbor Day rally in South Carolina on Monday night, Trump warned his supporters children face when they go online. He said that the internet is luring kids into joining ISIS.

"We're losing a lot of people because of the internet," Trump said. "We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them about, maybe in certain areas, closing that internet up in some ways. Somebody will say, 'Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people."

Trump's brief statement didn't explain how the internet could be closed, or how his system would differentiate between blocking an ISIS supporter and a law-abiding American citizen.

Lawmakers, including President Obama and Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, have touched on threats terrorist groups pose on social media, but haven't gone as so far as proposing a complete shutdown, if that was possible.

"We are cooperating with Muslim-majority countries -- and with our Muslim communities here at home -- to counter the vicious ideology that ISIL promotes online," Obama said during his Dec. 6 address to the nation. He added that he wants "high-tech and law enforcement leaders to make it harder for terrorists to use technology to escape from justice."

Watch Trump's statement below. His internet comments begin at the 22:53 mark.
