Fans of the award-winning show "Samurai Jack" should be pleased to know that the series has been confirmed to be returning to Cartoon Network starting in 2016.

According to Cinemablend, the show's creator Genndy Tartakovsky will be returning to the show. This is great news as the show's fans have mentioned that "Samurai Jack" was left unfinished after the original 52-episode run.

The story of the show was continued in a 20-issue comic series also titled "Samurai Jack." The story still seemed unfinished.

Cartoon Brew reports that ever since the show was placed on the Adult Swim block of Cartoon Network's late night programming, the show has garnered a lot of attention. The timing was also important as Tartakovsky is currently not working any projects as his last movie for Sony Pictures "Hotel Transylvania 2" has already debuted in theatres.

For those who are not familiar with "Samurai Jack," the show is the reason for Lucas Films hiring Tartakovsky to make their now famous "Clone Wars" cartoon series. Both the hand drawn and 3D versions of the show were heavily inspired by the drawing style of Tartakovsky, and the style still continues on with the current "Star Wars: Rebels" series.

The story of "Samurai Jack" starts when a young prince named Jack is forced to go on a journey to get revenge on a shape-shifting demon named Aku (voiced by Mako). During his original journey, Jack is able to learn to be a warrior and use his father's magical sword almost perfectly.

In the first episode, Jack confronts Aku and is about defeat the demon. However, before he able to strike the final blow Jack is sent into the future by Aku.

The young warrior wakes up in a time that he does not know, and in the world that is now completely controlled by the demon he sought to defeat. Jack is now on a mission to go back to the past and undo the world that Aku has made.

During the show's original run, Jack has had several good chances to go back in time to his time period, but it has always seemed that something is always kept him back. Fans of the show should be hoping that Jack will finally find his way back to his own time and defeat Aku once and for all.

However, one of the biggest problems for the show will revolve around the actor they must now choose to replace Mako, who unfortunately passed away in 2006 of cancer.

Currently there has been now news on when exactly the new series will premiere, but one thing is for certain, Jack is back!
