At 11:15 a.m. PST Wednesday, the San Bernardino Fire Department responded to a "20-victim shooting incident" near the Inland Regional Center, a non-profit facility for people with development disabilities.

Fifteen minutes later, the city Police Department tweeted that they were looking for an active shooter; the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said there may be as many as three shooters.

Los Angeles' ABC affiliate reports that at least 12 people have been killed. "They locked themselves in her office. They seen bodies on the floor," Marcos Aguilera told ABC, repeating what his wife said as she heard gunshots from her office.

Multiple reports say that law enforcement officials are looking for three men dressed in military fatigues and ski masks. They were reportedly equipped with rifles and heavy body armor. Social media users and news crews immediately began posting to Twitter.

The first images were of police as they ushered dozens of people out of the medical center, which is part of a cluster of offices in the building. Many who tried to flee were directed towards the San Bernardino Golf Course located across the street.

Update 2:25 PST: At least 14 are confirmed dead and another 14 wounded, according to the Los Angeles Times.

President Obama had used a statement focused on gun control. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, among other White House hopefuls, have shared their sentiments.

Update 4:05 PST: One suspect is dead, another in custody, and another is on the run after a police pursuit led to a deadly standoff. Police believe the last suspect barricaded himself in a church.
