The main difference that fans can see from the Professor X that actor James McAvoy portrays and the one that Patrick Stewart does is the long luscious locks of hair McAvoy's version has.
However, it seems that it will all change in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" film.Cinemablend reports that during an interview McAvoy did while promoting his newest film "Victor Frankenstein", the founder of the X-Men will be going through some serious emotional and physical stress during film.
According to Comic Book, the interview was done on the Graham Norton show, and the host of the show asked McAvoy if there is a reason why Professor X goes bald or is it just something as normal as male pattern baldness?
McAvoy replies by saying that his character ends up going through something so horrible and damaging that he literally pulls out half of his hair. The second half eventually falls out on its own. The British actor also confirms that he might not have been allowed to say that and that Fox Studios might have his head for leaking that information.
If this statement is true, it seems that this version of Professor X has gone through quite a lot to get to where he is by the time of the Patrick Stewart version. He has been shot in the spine by a bullet during "X-Men: First Class", hence his need for a wheelchair. Next, the character forgoes his powers to maintain the use of his legs, which leads to losing most of his students during "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Now, he loses his hair in a traumatic fashion.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is being directed by Brian Singer, who also directed the previous installment of the series "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Fox is looking to recreate the box office numbers the previous installment of the series had with "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the movie has added several new actors and actresses to familiar roles.
The heroes getting new actors to portray them include Jean Grey (Sophia Turner), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Joining the cast of the X-Men for the first time in a lead role include Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Jubilee (Lana Condor).
Several actors will also be returning to their iconic roles. This includes Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Jenifer Lawrence as Mystique.
"X-Men Apocalypse" is set to debut in theatres on May 27, 2016.
