Ronda Rousey’s seemingly devastating loss at UFC 193 still lingers in the air and now the finger-pointing has begun.
Seeing that Rousey was a hands-down favorite over Holly Holm, answers now have to be made on why the deposed UFC Women’s bantamweight champion got beat. That however should not discredit Holm for her feat, something that she and her group apparently worked on.
Was it the same over at the camp of Rousey?
In the hot seat right now is Glendale Fighting Club coach Edmond Tarverdyan who seems to have fallen short prepping Rousey and helping her develop in the striking area which could have been key against Holm.
Tarverdyan all the more looked bad when he stood and said that Rousey had a good round one and reasoned that Holm wasn’t really outstriking Rousey at UFC 193.
Could it be time for Rousey to change colors and move over to Kings MMA? Well the group’s name has been mentioned as an alternative and seeing that the faction does have big names like Fabricio Werdum and Rafael Dos Anjos under its wing, such could be plausible.
In the event that it does happen, such could be a major move. And as far as Dos Anjos is concerned, having Rousey by their stable would be neat, not to mention someone who can help her fully develop that striking piece that has apparently failed to materialize with Tarverdyan.
Could Master Rafael Cordeiro, a proven 28-year vet in the MMA, be the solution to Rousey’s further development? Well Dos Anjos believes so.
"For sure, we're going to have a great camp for her here. Great training partners. Great coaches. Master Cordeiro is going to have a great fight gameplan for her. If she comes, she'll have everything she needs to get her belt back," says Dos Anjos in an interview with MMAFighting.com
However, there is the matter of a fixture over at the MMA Kings that could make it impossible to materialize – Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino.
Now everyone knows the storied rivalry developing between the two recently. In fact, Cyborg would have been Rousey’s opponent had the UFC wanted to make it happen.
That alone douses water on Rousey coming on board though Dos Anjos believes that both can co-exist.
"We can make it work," Dos Anjos said of Cyborg co-existing with Rousey as quoted by the Bloody Elbow. "I think, on my part, [Rousey] is always welcome here."
Despite the belief of Dos Anjoys, it seems practically logical that such will make such a scenario impossible.
Rousey prides herself at what she does and seeing how things went down between her and Holm as early as the weigh-in, it is likely she will have trouble getting along with Cyborg (who was more vocal in exchanges with the deposed UFC Women’s bantamweight champion).
