A new video released by the ISIS earlier this week revealed the militant group is targeting the United States, specifically its capital city, in its terrorism efforts.
"The terror group, which quickly claimed credit for the deadly Paris attacks last Friday, said that the carnage in France was just the beginning," ABC News reported.
As such, the US has since beefed up security within its borders.
"There is a heavy police presence in Times Square, and U.S. Capitol Police sent a security awareness reminder to congressional offices today," the news source said. "U.S. Park Police have also increased patrols to protect 'treasured icons.'"
The said clip showed a man in fatigues and a turban, said to be named Al Ghareeb the Algerian, as the subtitles revealed.
"We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington," the man declared in the video, as transcribed by the New York Post.
"I say to the European countries that we are coming, coming with booby traps and explosives, coming with explosive belts and (gun) silencers and you will be unable to stop us because today we are much stronger than before," he also said.
Further, another man in the clip, identified as Al Karrar the Iraqi, addressed France's President Francois Hollande that the group has "decided to negotiate with you in the trenches and not in the hotels," in allusion to the Syrian war.
Although the clip's authenticity has not yet been officially verified, security officials in the country have taken the initiative to take extra precautionary measures to ensure the safety of Americans.
"An email warned lawmakers and their aides to use tunnels connecting the Capitol to the House and Senate office buildings 'out of an abundance of caution,' but said there is no particular danger," New York Daily News noted.
In other updates, FOX News acquired an intelligence assessment published in May 2015 by the Department of Homeland Security that warned of "ISIS' potential for carrying out complex attacks against Western targets and even singles out the man believed to be the mastermind behind last week's terror attacks in Paris."
The ringleader in the January 2015 attempt to attack Belgium is said to be Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who is believed to be the same man who led the Paris attack that killed more than a hundred people.
The said report revealed that Abaaoud had masterminded the attempt from an Athens, Greece safe house via cellphone. The other members reportedly operated in a number of other European countries.
