Two drug traffickers affiliated with El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel are being extradited to the United States.
The smugglers are said to be named Cesar Gastelum Serrano and Pedro Alejandro Rubio Perez.
Gastelum Serrano was arrested in April at a resort in Cancun.
According to the The U.S. Treasury Department, they placed Serrano on their drug kingpin list in December 2014. They called him "one of the most prolific cocaine suppliers for Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel," cites Associated Press.
The department's Office of Foreign Assets Control said Serrano headed "a vast criminal network to lead a cocaine trafficking organization capable of moving tons of cocaine per week through Honduras and Guatemala to Mexico."
Rubio Perez was arrested in Mexico on drug and organized crime charges in 2013.
El Chapo is currently on the run from Mexican authorities. He escaped police custody twice.
President Enrique Pena Nieto and his administration have since been ridiculed and mocked for allowing the cartel leader to escape for a second time.
Guzman initially escaped from prison in 2001 by hiding in a laundry cart and bribing prison guards. He was recaptured in February 2014 through a hole in a shower wall. It lead to a tunnel.
Although Guzma has yet to be captured, an accomplice of Guzman's was apprehended and taken to curt this month. Lázaro de Jesús Araujo Juárez is suspected of assisting El Chapo escape through the shower-tunnel. Juarez is accused of knowing about the tunnel because one of his relatives is suspected of being in charge of supervising the tunnel's construction.
UPI.com said Juarez has since been granted bail on that charge, but is still "charged with crimes against the public health and will have to face the proceedings for that crime within a federal prison."
El Chapo's wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro Guzmán, is trying to set-up legal obstacles to avoid a police search and warrant for her arrest. She has recently filed two lawsuits. She and El Chapo met while she was competing at a pageant. It is suspected Guzman rigged the pageant so she would win.
Guzman and his Sinaloa Cartel are responsible for trafficking over billions of dollars worth of drugs into the United States.
