There was a hint of things to come prior to the devastating Paris ISIS bombings.
"Iraqi intelligence officers alerted France, the U.S. and other allies to an imminent assault by Islamic State terrorists one day before the attacks in Paris that killed 129 people and wounded 352 others," the New York Daily Post said.
"An Iraqi intel dispatch to coalition countries said the Islamic State's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had ordered an attack on America and other countries fighting them in Syria and Iraq "through bombings or assassinations or hostage taking in the coming days," the news source added.
Iran and Russia were not spared from the militant group's plans, the report said.
Further, in the Paris bombing incident, a sleeper cell reportedly collaborated with the attackers, with a total of 24 people involved in the said attacks.
Although French officials, and even the US State Department, has not confirmed the said report, senior Iraqi officials allegedly confirmed the said information.
"The Paris attacks appear to have been planned in Raqqa, Syria - the Islamic State's de-facto capital - where the attackers were trained specifically for this operation and with the intention of sending them to France," Mashable noted, adding that the officials who leaked the information spoke anonymously as they were not authorized to speak about the matter in public.
This report is reminiscent of the warnings that were given to President Bush before the infamous September 2011 attacks. According to US intelligence officials then, a private warning was delivered to national security agencies weeks before the said attacks.
"But, the official said the threat of a hijacking by bin Laden's al Qaeda organization was general in nature, did not mention a specific time or place and was similar to the variety of different terrorist threats U.S. intelligence monitors frequently," ABC News reported.
Apparently, a similar warning was made in the case of the Paris attacks. However, like that of the 9/11 attacks, the warning unfortunately failed to avert disaster.
In other news, it also has been learned that officials in Turkey had prevented a "Jihadi John revenge attack" in the nation's capital on the same day as the Paris bombings.
"We believe they were planning an attack in Istanbul on the same day as the Paris attacks. Initial investigation shows we foiled a major attack," a Turkish official, who chose to speak on condition of anonymity, revealed, as noted by MailOnline.
Police officials had reportedly managed to detain five individuals in Istanbul due to suspected connections to ISIS.
