"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is a stage production of J.K. Rowling's story that will open as a two-part play in London in July 2016, with preview performances from late May 2016. Daniel Radcliffe on the other hand practically grew up playing the part of the wizard boy since the very first Harry Potter film in 2001 and starred in the series for 10 years until the release of the eighth and final film in 2011.
It was really hard for the Harry Potter fans to imagine any adaptation of the book without Radcliffe starring in them, so much so that the star is still being asked a lot about appearing on stage for the play. "I'm getting asked a lot, 'Would you play him?'" he told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.
Rowling considers "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" to be the eighth installment in the hit franchise after 19 years. In a synopsis of the play which she wrote on the Pottermore website in October, she said "it was always difficult being Harry Potter." It seemed like this translates to Radcliffe in real life.
He will not be appearing in the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," Radcliffe told Cohen. "But it would be very weird to see someone else play him," he said. "I'm definitely interested in Cursed Child, but I think it would be a weird thing for me to sit through when I would have to be so heavily disguised. I'm no longer part of that world, nor should I be," he further said.
The 26-year-old actor is now promoting "Victor Frankenstein" which Fox releases on Nov. 25 in the U.S. He plays Igor in the film, the sidekick who keeps watch Dr. Frankenstein as he created his monster. During the press tour for the film, Radcliffe received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Variety reported.
"It's really an incredible honor," Radcliffe told Variety. "I was taken aback at first, but then I had a real sense of gratitude. Only about 20% of people who work in film and television end up on the Walk of Fame. It's kind of amazing. I don't know if they remove these things, but no matter how badly I mess up, they can't remove it," he said. He also had his hands and feet carved at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood along with his "Harry Potter" co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
