Jeremy Lin has already taken his act to--and from--Broadway...and now it looks like Linsanity is coming to the Big Screen.
The Sundance Film Festival announced this week that "Linsanity," a documentary film chronicling Lin's improbable rise from substitute player to stardom last season, will be featured at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival this January in Utah.
The movie was directed by Evan Leong, an Asian director/producer whose works include "Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee" and "1040: Christianity in the New Asia." He was also the former assistant to Justin Lin, who directed the blockbuster film "The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift."
"Jeremy Lin came from a humble background to make an unbelievable run in the NBA. State high school champion, all-Ivy League at Harvard, undrafted by the NBA and unwanted there: his story started long before he landed on Broadway," reads the description of the film on Sundance's web site.
A source familiar with the project told the Los Angeles Times in April that the film would chronicle Lin's unlikely run in the NBA as well at take a look at his roots.
"Los Angeles-born and Palo-Alto raised, Lin shone at Harvard after being passed over by recruiters at college powerhouses, then bounced around pro basketball as an undrafted free agent before landing with the Knicks. The movie will also include elements of his Christian faith," wrote the Times.
"Linsanity" is one of about 29 documentaries set to shot at Utah's most famous indy flick festival .One of the largest independent film festivals in the nation, last January's Sundance Film Festival drew 46,731 people. The 2013 festival will take place from January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
