Quentin Tarantino will be the final major filmmaker to enter the Awards season arena at the end of 2012 when he releases his highly anticipated Django Unchained in just two weeks.

While there is a major review embargo until December 12, there are some critics and fans who have gotten their comments up on Twitter regarding Tarantino's upcoming film.

Noted critic Anne Thomspon (@akstanwyck) states that "Django unchained is super violent spaghetti western w/ anachronistic songs. waltz & jackson steal it. All talk & action. 1st screening." Regarding the reception from the preview screening she notes that "Standing ovation for Tarantino at DGA. Taylor hackford doing q and a."

Looper director Rian Johnson (@rcjohnso) was also in attendance and noted that "Django was terrific. DiCaprio blows the roof off the joint."

Critic Lou Lumenick (@LouLumenick) added that "Just watched what was basically a three-hour homage to BLAZING SADDLES."

Journalist Jeff Goldsmith (@yogoldsmith) was the most vocal of all and it is clear from his series of tweets that he enjoyed the film mightily. "From start to finish Django Unchained is a fantastic crowd pleaser. Smartly humorous, great action & dialogue - Definite awards contender!," he tweets. Goldsmith adds that "As for performances all were on par with what you want from a QT film = fantastic!" and that "The runtime of Django Unchained is around 2 hours & 40 mins & I wanted it to be longer~."

The screening took place at the Directors Guild of America this past weekend.
The film stars Christoph Waltz, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, and Leonardo DiCaprio. It comes out in theaters on December 25.

Latinos Post Critic David Salazar will be screening the film in coming days and will have a review up promptly after.
