Ronda Rousey is expectedly one of the busy bodies in the UFC and that doesn’t even include the movies she is set to appear in.
The reigning UFC Women’s bantamweight champion is expected to be in the limelight again this weekend as she tests Holly Holm whom she faces for UFC 193 which will be held at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
Despite the fact that she is facing a quiet and former boxer in Holm, Rousey is still a big favorite to win and keep his record unblemished. Regardless of the result, the next thing people will ask is what Rousey plans next?
For now, there is no word yet on who Rousey will fight next though there is that much-clamored showdown between her and Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino. Miesha Tate is also hoping to get a third crack at Rousey but as things stand now, the UFC will reserve all plans perhaps after the fight or next year.
And until that is resolved, Rousey may be taking a break from the UFC scene as she focuses on her movie career.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Rousey bares that she will be taking a break in promoting her fights until probably July as she focuses on the various films she is scheduled to star in.
"I'm selling a product and I have to be out there; I don't have the option not to be," she says. "But after this fight, I'm definitely going to let some people miss me, for sure. Believe me, there's nothing I would like to do more than disappear for a while.
With that in mind, it seems that Rousey may not be fighting until perhaps UFC 200 as she tries to fulfill her Hollywood engagements.
Among the film shoots that are expected to keep Rousey is expected to appear in include the remake film Roadhouse which originally starred the late Patrick Swayze and Mile 22 where she plays the role of a CIA agent opposite actor Mark Wahlberg.
Rousey plans to divert his time towards helping promote the films she is set to appear in, the same way she has done so with her UFC commitments.
Aside from the upcoming fight with Holm, she has also been around for her two previous fights (Cat Zingano and Bethe Correia). Her upcoming fight is the third one she has competed in for the last nine months and now the undefeated UFC champion will be taking a break.
While she does go on hiatus, it should provide the UFC with ample time to look into the other female fighters who they can push to the spotlight.
With Rousey claiming that he will be retiring at the age of 30, which is about two years from now, the search for her successor could do well by starting as early as now.
