One thing that can be said for the Los Angeles Lakers these days is this--at least they know how to keep things interesting, if not unstably so.
Four-time All-Star forward Pau Gasol has been the subject of a slew of trade rumors in the last few days after word surfaced that he has not been adjusting well to new coach Mike D'Antoni's fast-break style offense.
Among the most popular rumors is the one involving a scenario that would trade Gasol to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for forward Ryan Anderson.
The trade, if completed, would reunite Anderson, who averages 17.5 points per game for the Hornets, with former teammate Dwight Howard.
The two combined in the past to take Orlando towards several respectable playoff runs before Howard was traded to the Lakers.
The latest rumor involves sending Gasol to Sacramento for Kings guard Tyreke Evans. Evans, a three-year pro netting 14.9 points and 3.7 assists for the Kings this season, has been on a tear in the last five games, averaging 21 points since Nov. 18.
Of course, it should be worth mentioning that the scenario would leave a large gap at the forward position for the Lakers should it go through.
One scenario that would not, however, is if the Lakers opt to trade Gasol to the New York Knicks for injured forward Amar'e Stoudemire. Stoudemire, a six-time NBA All-Star thrived under D'Antoni both in Phoenix and in his first year in New York.
However, he struggled after Carmelo Anthony arrived via trade in New York, and he was maligned with health issues last season, as well as dealing with the death of his brother in a car accident before infamously punching a fire extinguisher after a playoff loss and injuring himself.
