Some information about the villains in the "Deadpool" movie have finally been released as MMA star turned actress Gina Carano sheds some light on her character, Angel Dust.
The actress recently sat down for an interview to talk about her experience on the set of "Deadpool", and shed some light on her character and who she works for. According to Screen Rant, Angel Dust is a super villain who gained her powers from the movie's other villain, Ajax (played by Ed Skrein). Carano states that Angel Dust is extremely loyal to Ajax and pretty much does whatever he tells her to do.
As for her powers, Cinemablend reports that Angel Dust uses her adrenaline to obtain a state of super strength and enhanced fighting ability. Carano says that she's pretty much similar to the Hulk in a way, but she doesn't need to get angry to trigger her powers. The actress states that Angel Dust assesses the situation she's in and can control the amount of adrenaline she needs to use.
For the movie, Angel Dust received her powers from Ajax before the movie started. It can be assumed that Ajax also taught her how to use and control her powers, which can explain why Angel Dust is so loyal to him.
Carano will also have a big fight scene with another mutant who will be appearing in the film, the veteran X-men member Colossus. When asked about the fight scene, Carano had a lot to say. The former MMA star proclaims that the scene was nothing like any fight she had before, MMA or otherwise. The actress never had any experience with CGI effects, as well as the sheer height of the actor playing Colossus, Andre Trixcotuex. Carano states that Trixcotuex being 6'8" was a challenge for her and that she had to learn how to extend her attacks, making it quite taxing after several takes.
However, Carano does say that she had a great time filming the fight scenes and that all the actors were a pleasure to work with.
Besides the major fight scenes, fans will be seeing a lot of Carano in the film as Angel Dust plays a big part in the recruitment of Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) into the Weapon X project, as well as in finding the merc with a mouth after he escapes.
"Deadpool" will be debuting in theaters February 12, 2016.
