After a year of silence, Rockstar Games has finally been more lax in giving out Grand Theft Auto 5 details. The developer recently released a new piece of artwork depicting Trevor Philliips, one of the game's three main protagonists. While new details haven't surfaced, here's a look at what we know about Grand Theft Auto 5 so far.

The biggest difference gamers will notice in Grand Theft Auto 5 compared to previous installments in the series will be the use of three main characters rather than one. Gamers will utilize Michael, Trevor, and Franklin to complete missions, switching between them on the fly to take advantage of their unique strengths. Not all missions will require the use of all three characters, and Rockstar's main intent was to get rid of boring NPC parts.
The game will take place in the Los Angeles-based fictional region of Los Santos. The world is the biggest one Rockstar has created to date, and players will be able to explore everything from the mountains, to the skies (yeup, planes are coming back to the series), to the ocean via scuba diving off the coast. Rockstar has also listened to complaints about there not being enough stuff to spend money on in Grand Theft auto 4, and promises there are plenty of mini games and buyable items in game.
Rockstar is also putting a special emphasis on multiplayer. While the developer hasn't released any details on Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer, and states that it will do so after more polishing, Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 will utilize the Crews feature from Max Payne 3.
Other than that, there's the usual gameplay improvements - improved vehicle physics, a more robust combat system, and of course, improved graphics.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently slated for a release in spring 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Pre-orders have already started.
