It sounds totally bizarre, but a shade of lipstick beauty mavens probably already have in their makeup box, can get rid of dark circles under the eyes.
Ravishing red lipstick is the answer. Beauty blogger Deepica Mutyala shared a "how-to" video on YouTube which has gone viral since its upload.
So how does it work?
As TODAY explains, dark circles under the eyes are actually shades of green and blue. In order to cancel a color out an opposite shade on the color wheel needs to be applied over it. When a huge, red zit is on your face, dabbing a bit of green or blue shadow on a red zit can cancel out the horrible red glow under facial concealer. The same concept can be applied to those massive raccoon circles sustained after a night of drinking debauchery or studying.
The exact opposite of blue and green on the color wheel is red and orange, so various shades of red and orange lipstick can be applied to any skin-tone. As TODAY details, fair skin will use a peachy-shade lipstick while tan and darker skin tones will use a deeper red shade.
Here's how it's done
Once the proper shade of lipstick has been determined, those looking to conceal traces of the night before will need to dab the lipstick around the eyes, primary on the splotchy dark areas. Follow by gently dabbing concealer over the red lipstick using a makeup sponge. Be careful not to smudge the concealer and lipstick together creating a very crazy shade of pink under the eyes.
Honesty, the trick can also be used to hide zits as well as contusions.
More Lipstick Hacks
Sometimes the perfect shade of blush is actually a lipstick you already have. If this is the case, sweep a line or two on the apple of your cheeks and blend with your fingers - the same technique as if using a cream blush.
If your perfect hue is broken, a lighter can do just the trick to patch it up. Put the two pieces together and hold a flame to fuse the two pieces together. Do not heat the lipstick for too long or it will melt.
