Adele Regrets Working With Blur's Damon Albarn: Here's Why

Previously, it was reported that Blur frontman Damon Albarn has contributed 5 songs for Adele's upcoming album. Now, as she made the rounds promoting her new record, Adele has revealed she regretted having worked with her childhood idol.

"It ended up being one of those 'don't meet your idol' moments," she told Rolling Stone in an interview. "And the saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up."

"But it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him," she added.

Further, she clarified that she and Albarn did not finish a single track.

"No! None of it was right," she said empathically. "None of it suited my record."

"He said I was insecure, when I'm the least-insecure person I know," she explained, referring to Albarn's previous statement that the British songstress was "very insecure."

"I was asking his opinion about my fears, about coming back with a child involved - because he has a child - and then he calls me insecure?" she added.

Albarn had also said in the same interview where he uttered the "insecure" comment that Adele doesn't need to be insecure as she is still "so young." Apparently, based on Adele's response, she agrees with that - she is too young to be insecure. And too talented to worry about the future, especially considering the overwhelming response her new album's first single received.

"Adele's 'Hello' blasts onto the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Nov. 14) at No. 1, setting a record for the most U.S. downloads sold in a week: 1.11 million, according to Nielsen Music," Billboard reported. "It's the first song ever to sell at least 1 million downloads in a week."

"24th No. 1 Hot 100 debut: 'Hello' is only the 24th song to debut at No. 1 in the Hot 100's history, and Adele's first," the music news source added.

Further, "Hello" is Adele's fourth Hot 100 hit. The other three was from her previous record, "21," namely "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You", and "Set Fire to the Rain."

Looks like "25" may be an even bigger hit than "21".

Recently, however, fans of Tom Waits have accused Adele of plagiarizing the musician's 1973 hit "Martha."

"'Martha' opens with the lyrics: 'Operator, number please, it's been so many years/ Will she remember my old voice while I fight the tears?'" The Independent noted.

"Hello, hello there, is this Martha? This is old Tom Frost/ And I am calling long distance, don't worry 'bout the cost/ 'Cause it's been forty years or more, now Martha please recall/ Meet me out for coffee, where we'll talk about it all", the lyrics went on.

Although the melody of both songs are not similar, the format of both tracks' introduction has a similar theme, although the words are also not the same. The British publication opined that, in this case, Adele's "Hello" seem more of a homage to the 1972 track than a rip off.
