'Vampire Diaries' fans were hit with a surprising twist last week after finding out that Elena's (Nina Dobrev) feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) may be due to a sire bond between the two. The episode, called "My Brother's Keeper," saw as the relationship between brothers Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) continued to strain and how Elena and her brother Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen) were forced to separate.
The youngest Gilbert, a new vampire hunter and member of the notorious Five, experienced urges to kill his vampire sister and almost succeeded in doing so during the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. Thankfully, Stefan, who had earlier forced him to kill a newbie vampire so that his hunter's mark would grow, and good friend Matt (Zach Roerig) stopped him just in time.
At the end, it was decided that Matt would live with Jer at the Gilberts and Elena would move in with the Salvatores-further dividing the two brothers.
In this week's episode, entitled "We'll Always Have Bourbon Street," the Salvatore brothers will set aside their differences for a bit in order to head to modern day New Orleans and figure out if the sire bond between Damon and Elena is actually possible. The visit to New Orleans will include a walk down memory lane, while Damon revisits old flame Charlotte (Madeline Zima).
In the meantime, Damon and Stefan's lady love will have a girls' night with best friends Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie (Kat Graham). However, the night soon turns sour as Elena makes a shocking announcement, the CW teased.
In hybrid-werewolf news, Tyler (Michael Trevino) will be forced to confront one of Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) at Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) request. Things between Tyler and hybrid Kimberly (Alyssa Diaz), however, quickly escalate into violence.
"We'll Always Have Bourbon Street" airs on December 6 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
