The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has received a major endorsement for a second term.
The endorsement came from President Barack Obama.
Currently serving as the DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz took the role in early 2011 while balancing her role as Congresswoman for Florida’s 20th District since January 2005. The district includes parts of Fort Lauderdale and down to Miami Beach.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Wasserman Schultz has been credited to helping gain Florida votes for Obama in last month’s election, maintaining the majority in the Senate, and gaining a few more seats in the House of Representatives.
Obama tweeted, "I've asked Debbie Wasserman Schultz to continue her excellent work as chair of the DNC. Thanks for all you do, Debbie."
