When you think of the character of Deadpool, there are certain characters that come to mind who go along well with the merc with the mouth. Long-time standing X-Men team member Colossus is not one of them.

However, according to Comic Book Movie, in the upcoming film revolving around Deadpool's origins and creation, the steel-skinned Russian superhero is going to have a deeper role than he did in the first three previous "X-Men" films.

The Russian mutant will now be played by actor Andre Tricoteux, who is mostly known for his work as a stuntman up to this point. Tricoteux will be taking the role from Daniel Cudmore, who played Colossus during the first "X-Men" trilogy.

Tech Times reports that Tricoteux will be playing a very traditional version of Colossus, as the director Tim Miller had a very clear vision on what he wanted from Colossus and how he and Deadpool interact. When asked if the character would still have a Russian accent, Tricoteux said that he cannot give out too much information about the film, but the team wanted to keep Colossus as close to the comics as possible. Fans would just have to figure things out from that.

For those who do not know a lot about Colossus, his real name is Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin. He was originally from Soviet Russia, where he was found by Charles Xavier to join the second incarnation of the "X-Men."

Colossus was part of the team that was sent out to save the original X-Men from the island monster Krakoa, and served as the team's strongman for many years. His mutant power is that Colossus is able to form an armor around his whole body made of organic steel. While the steel itself is not indestructible, combined with his super strength, it has allowed Colossus to be one of the most dependable X-Men on the Squad.

During the first trilogy of "X-Men" films, Colossus was placed as a secondary character. Piotr was one of the senior students of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, so he was reduced to helping out the younger students, especially when the school came under attack in "X-Men 2."

It seems that during the upcoming "Deadpool" movie, fans will finally get to see Colossus in action, as the trailer shows the X-Men member gearing up to what looks like an all-out fight.

What else can we expect to see from Colossus? Fans will just have to find out when "Deadpool" premieres on Feb. 12, 2016.
