Enrique Tovar is receiving serious flack for sexually harassing his co-host Tania Reza on live television in Mexico. However, it has been said the entire incident was hoax. But no one is laughing. Sexual harassment is serious.
In the uncomfortable clip aired on Televisa Chihuahua's show "A Toda Máquina" (ATM), Tovar makes several advances at Reza.
He strokes her multiple times. He touches her chest twice and even attempts to lift the skirt of her dress. Looks obviously uncomfortable. She swats him away several times before she eventually tears off her mic and storms off set. According to Remezcla, she walks off saying "I can't work like this." Tovar, in turn, apologizes to his audience for his "hormonal" co-host.
Remezcla initially reported, the netwok looked to be on-board with the entire situation, as the video was posted multiple times to their social media accounts.
"ATM hasn't fired Tovar and is using the situation as a way to get more views. On their Facebook page, they twice posted the video; the second time featured a click-baity headline. There were no apologies."
However, Huffington Post has learned the entire ordeal may actually be a joke cooked up by the former co-hosts, without the network's knowledge. Both have been fired as a result.
"Televisa strongly condemns this act and any type of harassment," the network said in a statement. "In conjunction with [ethics code], we inform you that both presenters have been separated from the company."
A new video of Tovar and Reza has since been uploaded to YouTube. The pair reportedly tell their fans they "are good friends and never anticipated things getting so out of hand has since been posted by the television network."
Televisa has also urged Reza to come forward if what she has since reported differ from what actually happened.
"We urge Tania Reza that if what happened on the show differs from her original statement to Human Resources, to not have doubts in letting us know so we can support her in the process of filing a formal complaint. At Televisa we take very seriously any form of inappropriate behavior."
