Ever since it was announced that Sony would be allowing Marvel to use the rights for Spiderman in the next Captain America film, news and rumors have been everywhere.
In a recent interview with Hey U Guys, the young actor to play Peter Parker / Spiderman in "Captain America: Civil War" put some of those rumors to light. The 19-year-old British actor said that his version of Spiderman will be a lot younger than fans have grown accustomed to. Holland states that Spiderman will still be in high school during the events of Civil War, only being a hero for little more than a year.
Superhero Hype also reports that Holland will be taking a lot of inspiration from the two actors who played Spiderman before him in the Sony films, namely, Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield. Holland stated that their performances were so powerful it would be too difficult not to take any inspiration from them.
Holland was also sporting a new cut on his nose during the interview, and when asked about it and if there was a lot of violence on the set, the young actor said that the injury was his fault. Holland goes on to say that he pretty much goofed a scene wherein he made an absolute fool of himself in front of about 200 studio cast and crew. Holland did state that the shot ended up looking pretty good, so they might just have to CGI out the blood from the take and use it in the final cut.
According to Screen Rant, Holland wasn't able to divulge much about his involvement in "Captain America: Civil War," but it does seem that Spiderman's role in the film may be similar to what happened in the comics. Spiderman reportedly will hear Iron Man's call for government registration for superpowered beings, and Peter Parker is one of the first heroes to do so.
It was a more symbolic gesture in the Marvel Comic Universe since Spiderman has been a long-time veteran of that universe. However, it may not mean as much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he's more of a rookie hero than anything else.
It has been confirmed that Spiderman will spend some time on Iron Man's team before eventually falling back to join Captain America's team.
When asked about all the hype that surrounds an Avenger film, Holland states that "Avengers" veteran Chris Helmsworth gave him some tips on how to respond to all the attention that now surrounds him.
Spiderman is also set to have his own solo movie, which is set to debut on July 28, 2017, while "Captain America: Civil War" is set for a May 6, 2016 release date.
