President Hugo Chavez is back in Venezuela after several days of cancer treatment at the hands of Cuban doctors in the Caribbean Island.
Chavez spent 11 days in Cuba's capital, La Habana, undergoing radio therapy.
Upon deplaning unto Venezuelan soil on Friday, Chavez gave a televised speech to all Venezuelans in which he said, "I must inform that in the last days we completed successfully the radiation cycle as planned by the medical team."
"Nothing intervened to stop, suspend or alter the initial plan [of the therapy] which was completed successfully," he added.
Chavez then announced that the following days he would spend it to recover from the effects of the radio therapy.
The socialist president who traveled to Cuba on April 30 told his citizens that he was aware of what was happening in the country during his absence.
Chavez's health is keeping Venezuelans uneasy due to the uncertainty it is casting over the future of Venezuelan politics. His sudden and seemingly improvised visits to Cuba have caused speculation over a probable deteriorating health.
The Venezuelan presidential elections take place on October 7 of this year, and with only a couple months left, Chavez must recover soon in order to be able to withstand campaigning for his reelection.
