Lindsay Lohan is again a top trending topic over the weekend. This time however it was not about being too high on drugs, being too much on alcohol or being naked that get her on the headlines across the world.
On Oct. 17, out of the blue, she took to Instagram to announce that she is considering to run for the highest seat in the land by 2020. "I may run for president. Through ups and downs. Let's do this," Lohan posted. She tagged another presidential 2020 hopeful Kanye West in her post. She also tagged President Barack Obama, thanking him for inspiring her and West to be better people.
People were initially suspicious that it was the drugs talking or the alcohol has again gotten the better of her hence her post. However, she continued posting photos and writing captions about her presidential plans. Her next post was a picture of her with West. The caption reads: "The first thing I would like to do as president is take care of all the children suffering in the world. Queen Elizabeth II showed me how by having me in her country." A post after this was a photo of her carrying a child back when she was in India. The post also included a photo of Mahatma Gandhi.
When it became apparent that Lohan is serious about a possible bid by 2020, netizens exploded. Twitter user Seifer Alberio excused himself for a good 30-minute laugh following Lohan's announcement. "Best joke of 2015," A. Ellison tweeted. Cynoross said April Fool's came very early this year. David Rabiak Jr tweeted that he might as well grab the $69 plane ticket and move immediately to Europe before it is too late.
Caitlyn Bogart tweeted: "Since Lindsay Lohan and Kanye have decided they are going to run for president in 2020, I'm assuming it's open for anyone." This last tweet actually is true. Apparently, if one desires to run for the highest seat in the White House, he or she would just have to be asked about his age and where he or she was born. There are only three constitutional requirements to serve as President of the U.S. - being a native-born U.S. citizen or those born abroad but only to parents at least one of whom was a U.S. citizen at the time; being at least 35 years of age; and must be living in the country for at least 14 years.
On Oct. 18, Lohan posted what appeared to be her campaign poster for her the 2020 election. Her campaign slogan reads: making the world a better place.
