Widely known by now is that "Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens" hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015. The Star Wars fans are more than ever on the prowl for the release of the film's official poster, trailer and date when ticket sales kicks off.
Well, the day has finally come. The official poster will be out on Sunday morning, the trailer will follow on Monday night at around 8pm EST and tickets will be sold online afterwards, according to multiple sources who have spoken with the io9.
ScreenCrush can confirm that major U.S. theaters were already required by Disney to have their ticketing information keyed-in into the systems by 8am ET on Friday, Oct. 16. The requirement makes all theaters ready to finally sell tickets on Monday, Oct. 19 according to ScreenCrush.
ScreenCrush has also the detailed information about the film's posters and trailer release. As a tip off, fans should never leave their computers on Sunday morning because the official poster will be out around this time. There will also be some additional announcement that will come with the poster release.
Another tip: fans should watch out for a special Star wars themed Monday Night Football on Disney's ESPN, ScreenCrush said. The "Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens" trailer will air during half-time. Pre-sale tickets will commence at the same time.
Meanwhile, Kathleen Kennedy, the producer of the "Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens," may have dropped a spoiler less than two months before the film bow down theaters in december. In an interview with The Guardian, Kennedy said that a new female character will be "extremely significant" to the film's plot. The interview being made was about a call for the film industry to exert more effort in exemplifying women.
Immediately, Kennedy's comment sparked speculation that Rey, being played by Daisy Ridley, is a scion of the Skywalker family. This shall immediately put her in a role that can be described as "extremely significant." Before the controversial comment from the producer, The Guardian noted that there had been a long standing prediction from fans that Ridley will indeed be playing the child of either Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia.
An official announcement on Lucas Film website said that "Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens" will pioneer a new era of storytelling for the Star Wars franchise. The film is set 30 years after the events of "Return of the Jedi." Lucas Film said a new generation of heroes and villains will be born from the film. There will also be the return of the "fan-favorite smugglers, princesses and jedi."
