The scariest season of the year - barring wallet-draining holidays like Black Friday - is coming in less than 3 weeks and Halloween ideas are slowly emerging for the taking, like zombies rising out of the grave.
Thankfully, there are listicles like these to help you get yourself sorted on how or who to dress yourself as come October 31st. This time, we've round up the rather controversial ones for Halloween 2015, as well as the popular choices for this year, with some being both popular and scandalous at the same time. Let's begin with the controversial ones first.
Lion Killer Dentist
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know who this refers to - that denture fixer called Walter Palmer, who happened to hunt down Cecil, the most popular and well-loved lions in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, Africa. Considering the global outcry the incident caused, and Palmer's subsequent run for cover in the wake of the controversy, it seems baffling, especially to animal lovers, to see anyone dressed up as the killer dentist. Perhaps his horrific act towards an animal is on the same scare level as a ghoul?
Rachel Dolezal
There have been celebrities doing blackface as part of their Halloween getup (Julianne Hough calls to mind). And when that happens, a round of backlash ensues, followed by an effusive apology by the offender for the "innocent" mistake. So, when anyone does a Rachel Dolezal look in blackface this coming Halloween, expect the verbal mayhem. But then again, Dolezal herself could be accused of blackface itself as she is a blonde, blue-eyed Caucasian telling the world that she is black and even making herself appear as such - which is the height of horror for those offended by this act.
Caitlyn Jenner
"There's no tasteful way to 'celebrate' Caitlyn Jenner or respect transgender people this way on the one night of the year when people use their most twisted imaginations to pretend to be villains and monsters," National Center for Transgender Equality's Vincent Villano told The Huffington Post.
Donald Trump
The aspirant to the US presidency has been making headlines with his eyebrow-raising comments that probably also horrified some audiences, hence the billionaire's perceived suitability as a Halloween caricature.
Kim Davis
She's another newsmaker who will surely get her own costume in the thick of the scare-fest season.
And here are the surefire hits for Halloween 2015:
Minions
KFOR.com named these yellow characters as one of the popular costume options for Halloween this year, especially among the kids.
The Dress
Who didn't get into a heated debate about whether the dress is blue or white?
Star Wars
With "The Force Awakens" coming to theaters in December, costumes of various characters in the upcoming film will likely be a hit later this month.
Disney Characters
Disney princesses, especially those from "Frozen," will probably still come in droves during trick-or-treat season.
